
Aleksandreuli
A brief history
Aleksandreuli, which makes the Chini and Bugeuli brands, was founded in 1998 by owner Gocha Matsaberidze in the village of Bugeuli in Ambrolauri district, part of the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region. Winemaker Kakhaber Gordeziani makes 500,000 bottles of “classical” dry and sweet red and dry and sweet white wines using Aleksandreuli, Mujuretuli, Tsulukidze Tetra, Saperavi and Rkatsiteli varieties.Chini is a premium brand made with grapes from the warmer Racha-Lechkhumi, one of Georgia’s smallest, but important, wine regions, situated just south of the Caucasus Mountains. The vineyards are located in the Khvanchkara micro-zone, in village of Bugeuli at 500-700 meters above sea level. The Bugeuli brand “unites wines” from the Racha and Kakheti regions.
