A brief history

"Kartveli" - A Future Inspired by the Past

Georgia has an ancient, 8,000 years of continuous winemaking history. Archaeological discoveries confirm that the wine culture originates from Georgia and the production of Georgian "Qvevri” (pitcher) wine dates back to 8,000 years. There are 500 endemic vine varities cultivated in Georgia. Wine and other alcoholic beverages, produced by the company " Kartveli", unite the past, present and future of viticulture and winemaking.

Businessman Jimsher Chkhaidze grew up in a family with a long tradition of winemaking. In the 1880s, his great grandfather, Antimoz Chkhaidze, cultivated local Georgian grape varieties in Guria and made wine, which was recognized abroad too. In 1998, Jimsher Chkhaidze, together with his brothers, founded the company "Askaneli Brothers", which is one of the main players in the Georgian alcoholic beverage market and a successful brand.
Jimsher Chkhaidze-Askaneli founded the company "Kartveli" in 2015. It is a hub that combines several successful brands produced in accordance with the centuries-old traditions of winemaking in Georgia: "Kartveli", "Gvariani", "Aragveli", "Orbeliani" and the first Georgian whisky "Jimsher". All the products of the company are created exclusively for those attracted by the combination of novelty and antiquity, modernity and the past.

Although the company is quite young, it has already successfully implemented the following projects:

• Wine factory and whisky distillery equipped with the latest and ultra-modern German and Italian machinery.

• Micro-zone vineyards of different appellations of origin.

• Repository of around 500 Georgian and foreign grape varieties cultivated on the territory of the factory.

Today the company cultivates rare and unique vineyards of Tsolikouri, Chkhaveri, Kindzmarauli, and Akhasheni in the micro-zones of Georgia.
A tourist complex is being built near the factory: a cellar, a hotel, and a restaurant.
The goal of the company "Kartveli" is to introduce the cultural heritage of Georgia to customers through its products.
