Traditsiuli
A brief history
Our Wine Cellar is located in the heart of Georgia’s premier wine region – Kakheti - near the city of Sighnaghi which is called “The City of Love” and is mostly visited tourist attraction in region. Among Georgian wines, Kakhetian wine expresses soil properties most of all. Kakhetian wine is characterized by high extraction, a high content of phenolic compounds and tannins, pleasant bouquet, sort specific aroma and taste.
The name and the symbol of our company “Traditsiuli” (in Georgian meaning traditional) is associated with the technology used in our winemaking - traditional, uniquely Georgian winemaking technology in clay vessels called Qvevri. The tradition of making wine in Qvevri is so embedded in Georgian culture that in 2013 UNESCO added it to its catalog of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage. This marked the Qvevri a symbol of the deep cultural roots of Georgian wine and the authenticity of Georgian winemaking. The oldest Qvevri in our wine cellar dates back to 1905 and is still preserved and used;
Font by which Company’s name „ტრადიციული“ is written on the label is handwriting of Prince Ilia Chavchavadze - Georgian public figure, journalist, publisher, writer and poet who spearheaded the revival of Georgian nationalism during the second half of the 19th century and ensured the survival of the Georgian language, literature and culture. He is Georgia's "most universally revered hero" and is regarded as the "Father of the Nation.“
Company’s mission is to be a window for Georgian wine culture to be discovered and
admired worldwide.
